Indeterminate variety producing large meaty pear shaped red tomatoes. This is a well known Italian heirloom variety that is popular for using for sauce and tomato paste as it has a rich flavour and a thick meaty flesh with very few seeds and low water content.

Italian Big Red Pear’ is variety that originated in Italy. Tall, indeterminate plants with regular and wispy leaf vines, that load up a very good amount of beautiful, big, pear-shaped fruit with ribbed shoulders. Fruit weight about 8-14 oz. or more, are red coloured with very meaty, dense flesh. Perfect for cooking, canning and sauce, but also good for fresh. Very good, sweet taste. Late, about 85 days from transplant.

Other: Plants need staking. Prune plants to two main stems. Keep well-watered. Pick when mature to encourage more fruit. To reduce the risk of disease do not water overhead. Rotate crops: do not plant in the same position two years in a row.
