Product Description

Lettuce: Buttercrunch (Warm weather variety)

Great lettuce for growing all year round                                                                                                                                   Summer is salad time, but it’s not a good time for many lettuce varieties. This one solves the problem. It’s relatively bolt resistant, and if you plant your summer crop of lettuce in light shade and give it enough water, it will last well. While most lettuce varieties tend to bolt when the weather is hot, butter lettuce has greater heat tolerance, and Buttercrunch lettuce is among the varieties most likely to do well during the summer salad season. This old-fashioned variety remains a winner - and it has proved its mettle by winning accolades from seed fanciers the world over. Buttercrunch form loose heads that provide a wealth of greens to enjoy year round. Plant it in a cool position in tropical areas - it doesn't mind a little shade. This lettuce is famed for its tender leaves with a buttery flavour that keeps you coming back for more.

Nitrogen-rich fertilizer promotes the leafy growth of butterhead lettuce. You can choose a single ingredient simple fertilizer such as blood meal, or feed by adding generous amounts of compost or manure to the soil. For a quick nutrient boost for successive plantings, use a liquid fertilizer formulated for vegetable gardens.
